Phimosis Treatment Options

Phimosis Treatment Options

  • Manual Stretching
    • Involves gentle pulling the foreskin back and forth over the glans
    • Usually requires some additional intervention like a device or steroid
  • Manual Stretching with Steroid
    • Adding a steroid like betamethasone significantly increases likelihood of the foreskin being pulled back and forth  over the glans
  • Manual Stretching plus Steel Retractors (two and three tipped)
    • Apart from the obvious fact that they look  painful, steel skin retractors that are sold as foreskin stretchers are very bad for the foreskin as they stretch the skin to harshly resulting in inflammation which inhibits stretching of skin
  • Manual Stretching plus Steel Retractors (two and three tipped) with steroid
    • The use of a steroid can reduce the inflammation, however, the skin becomes very thin due to the steroid and the risk of cutting or tearing increases significantly.
    • Most urologists do not think surgical retractors are safe and do not approve their use in the management of phimosis treatment even with steriods
  • Manual Stretching plus Novoglan Balloon Stretcher
    • The Novoglan balloon device has been evaluated by urologists and health  authorities and is the only medical device like product approved for use in the treatment of a tight foreskin, that is, phimosis treatment.
    • The Novoglan balloon provides effective phimosis treatment by allowing the user to provide gentle, even pressure across the whole foreskin without the risk of tearing or cutting
    • A good phimosis treatment should take at least two weeks and that is what is recommended by the manufacturer of the Novoglan balloon stretcher kit
  • Manual Stretching plus Novoglan Balloon Stretcher with Steroid or Cream
    • Research has shown that whilst the Novoglan Balloon Foreskin Stretcher works on its own, it works even better when used with a steroid or foreskin stretching cream
    • Results are better than 9 out 10 men report full relief for their tight foreskin and rate the balloon and steroid as the ultimate phimosis treatment.
  • Steroid alone
    • The use of steroids alone without stretching technique is not ideal and the side effects risk may not warrant the use of the product.
    • Steroids should always be used with a manual stretching technique and ideally with the Novoglan Gentle Foreskin Stretcher Kit.
